Eduardo Kobra

Brazilian artist Eduardo Kobra is known for his huge, kaleidoscope-like portrait murals. Inspired by the Hip-Hop culture of the 80's, he began painting at age 12 in his neighborhood in Sao Paolo.

His subjects range from famous historical figures to people you might see on the street. Each piece has elements inspired by old photographs Kobra finds of the cities he's painting in, combined with the bold colors and shapes that bring his subjects into the modern era. He adapts the materials and techniques he uses based on the surface size and type.

The results are simultaneously lifelike and fractured through with geometric shapes and fantastic colors.
